OSLO, Norway – Norway’s Ministry Petroleum and Energy has renamed the North Sea Dagny oil and gas field as “Gina Krog.”

Krog was a champion for women’s rights in Norway, and this year marks the 100-year anniversary for women being eligible to vote in Norwegian elections. The government has introduced a policy of renaming newly developed fields after influential figures in Norwegian history.

Statoil submitted a plan for the Gina Krog (Dagny) field development last December. The field has recoverable reserves estimated at 225 MMboe.

First oil is scheduled for early 2017, and the field is expected to remain in production through 2037. It will be developed with asteel jacketplatform and tied back to the Sleipner platform for gas export, with oil offloaded to tankers.
