STAVANGER, Norway – Equinor will continue as operator in the operations phase for the Wisting field in the Barents Sea, following an investment decision at the end of next year.
The company has operated the first-phase Wisting development since December 2019.
Partner Lundin Energy has completed a transaction to acquire a further 25% interest in the development from OMV Norge for $320 million. The company will also assume operatorship of nearby licenses PL1133 and 1134 during the exploration phase, with Equinor becoming operator in any future field development phase.
An impact assessment for Wisting Phase 1 should be completed early next year.
