LEIDEN, the Netherlands – Heerema’s heavy-lift vessel Thialf has installed the 7,800-metric ton (8,598-ton) topsides for bp Trinidad and Tobago LLC’s Cassia Compression (Cassia C) platform.

McDermott built the topsides at its Altamira fabrication yard in Mexico.

Heerema’s semisubmersible crane vessel Sleipnir installed the jacket in 2020.

The next step in the project is hook up and commissioning of the platform, according to bpTT.

The Cassia C project will enable bpTT to access and produce low-pressure gas reserves from currently-producing fields in the Greater Cassia area.

Gas production from the Greater Cassia area will be routed to the Cassia C platform for compression before being transported via the adjacent Cassia B platform.

Located 57 km (35 mi) offshore southeast Trinidad, the Cassia C platform will have a throughput capacity of 1.2 bcf/d.

First gas is expected in 2022.
