LYSAKER, Norway – Heerema’s semisubmersible crane vessel Sleipnir has installed the 3,150-metric ton (3,472-ton) Hod B jacket for Aker BP in the southern Norwegian North Sea.

Aker BP and partner Pandion Energy are redeveloping the Hod oil field with a normally unmanned wellhead platform, Hod B, tied-back to and remotely controlled from the Valhall field center.

Aker Solutions’ yard in Verdal, Norway, built the jacket. The topsides is expected to leave the yard next month.

Remaining activities include installation and connection of gas lift pipes, production pipes, and umbilical cords. Integration work is under way at Valhall, and the jackup Maersk Invincible is expected to drill production wells this autumn.

Production is expected to start in 1Q 2022. Recoverable reserves are estimated at 40 MMboe. According to Aker BP, Hod will have low CO2 emissions due to power from shore.

Aker BP is the operator with 90% ownership interest. Pandion Energy holds the remaining 10% interest.
