FORNEBU, NorwayAker Solutions has delivered the new 5,000-ton module for the Johan Sverdrup riser platform in the Norwegian North Sea.

The delivery is a part of the field’s second development phase. Earlier today the module was on a barge at the company’s yard in Stord.

It is due to be towed to the Johan Sverdrup field center and lifted onto the riser platform deck by Heerema’s heavy-lift vessel Sleipnir in a two-day operation.

The module comprises 11 sections. Engineering and procurement were split between Aker Solutions’ locations in Stavanger, Bergen, Fornebu, Mumbai, and London.

Fabrication was performed by the company’s partners in Poland, and at its Stord and Egersund yard, followed by assembly, completion, and commissioning at Stord.

Previously the company delivered the FEED for both phases of the Sverdrup project, four of the five platform jackets, the living quarters platform, and hookup and integration services.
