LEIDEN, the Netherlands – Heerema’s deepwater construction vessel Balder has installed the Yaxche-C jacket and topsides for Pemex in the Bay of Campeche.

In July 2019, Pemex awarded the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation contract for the Yaxche-C platform to a consortium made up of Cotemar, Hoc Offshore (Arendal), and Construcciones Mecanicas Monclova.

Cotemar built the jacket and topsides in Tampico, Mexico. The jacket weighed 700 metric tons (772 tons), the four skirt piles 125 metric tons (138 tons) each, and the topsides 850 metric tons (937 ton), according to Heerema.

This was Heerema’s first project for Cotemar. The Balder started the work on Aug. 8 and completed the platform installation on Aug. 15.

The 1978-built vessel will remain in the Gulf of Mexico for more installation work.
