WEST PERTH, Australia – Carnarvon Petroleum has issued an update on the Santos-led Dorado field development in the Bedout sub-basin offshore Western Australia.

FEED is due to start later in the year. BW Offshore, MODEC, and Altera (formerly Teekay) are progressing their concepts for the FPSO under a pre-FEED competition: all recently presented proposals for what would be required to deliver production of 75,000-100,000 b/d of oil.

Tendering also continues for the wellhead platform (WHP), the aim being to finalize concept select definition so that the FEED can start around the end of the current quarter.

The WHP will probably host eight to 10 wells with capacity to accommodate production from future tiebacks.

Preparations are also under way for the offshore project proposal and field development plan, with a final investment decision following in 2021, subject to business conditions.
