OSLO, Norway – Shell UK has contracted Kvaerner to perform early phase design engineering of the planned wellhead platform for the HP/HT Jackdaw gas-condensate field in the UK central North Sea.

Kvaerner’s engineering group in Trondheim and Oslo will collaborate with Leirvik and Rambøll in Oslo and Esbjerg, Denmark on the program.

Shell plans an unmanned platform with a compact deck supported by a steel substructure standing.

The design engineering exercise will further develop the concept, the scope including preparing the technical documentation for subsequent detail engineering and construction of the platform.

Kvaerner will use its experience from its recent the delivery of a similar wellhead platform for Aker BP’s Valhall Flank West project in the Norwegian North Sea.

The final front-end engineering design study is due to be delivered in December.
