Finder selects Hakuryu-5 rig for KTJ development drilling offshore Timor-Leste

The semisubmersible rig is slated to drill three production wells tied back to the FPSO Petrojarl I, with final contract execution subject to partner, regulatory and board approvals.

Why this news matters:

  • The rig contract represents a key step toward final investment decision and development of the Kuda Tasi and Jahal oilfields offshore Timor-Leste.

  • The three-well program is designed to bring new production online through tieback infrastructure connected to the FPSO Petrojarl I.

  • Optional drilling slots could support additional exploration, appraisal activity or rig-sharing opportunities in the region.
