Vaalco starts multi-well campaign on offshore Gabon platforms
The current infill well from the Etame platform will be followed by further wells and workovers from other platforms to sustain production and potentially raise reserves.
The Norve rig has been contracted by Vaalco Energy for operations offshore Gabon, starting November 2025 and concluding October 2026 (with an option to extend), according to Borr Drilling's November 2025 Fleet Status Report.

The location where Vaalco operates spans 46,200 gross acres 20 miles offshore Gabon in 250-ft water depths.
Vaalco Energy’s Phase 3 drilling program offshore Gabon is underway, with a Borr jackup rig spudding the ET-15 infill well on the Etame platform, according to a Dec. 9 company news release.
“We are initiating the program at the Etame platform with this infill well and the pilot holes," Vaalco CEO George Maxwell said. “After drilling at the Etame platform, we expect to move the rig to the SEENT and Ebouri platforms where we have several wells and workovers planned to enhance production, lower costs and potentially add reserves.”
Vaalco holds a 58.8% working interest in and operates the Etame Marin Block offshore Gabon.
Nearby, BW Energy recently reported that it started the execution phase for the MaBoMo Phase 2 development project in the Dussafu license offshore Gabon, the company said in a results update.
