Valeura Energy drilled 10 development and appraisal wells this summer on the Nong Yao oil field in the G11/48 license in the Gulf of Thailand, according to the company's third-quarter 2025 update.

All were drilled from the field’s three platforms, collectively lifting the company’s net production from Nong Yao from 7,996 bbl/d to 11,562 bbl/d.

Reservoirs encountered during the campaign could extend the field’s productive life, the company added.

Valeura drilled three horizontal oil producers from the Nong Yao A wellhead and production facility, all geosteered on a real-time basis to maximize exposure to the reservoir’s oil-bearing interval. One of the wells, while directionally drilling toward the target interval, intersected potential upside bypassed oil in the shallower H2.5 and H3.0 reservoirs, which could be developed in future.

The program for the Nong Yao B platform included some of the most technically challenging wells drilled to date in the Gulf of Thailand basin, the company said, in terms of geological complexity and extended reach. One had a total drilled length of more than 9,800 ft.

Among the five wells drilled from the platform, NYB-29 was a deviated appraisal well that confirmed the development potential of the H8.0 and H8.5 sand reservoirs. Both will be analyzed for inclusion in a future development drilling campaign.

The contracted rig has since transferred to the Jasmine Field on Block B5/27, where it will drill up to nine development wells, some including the Wassana redevelopment. The project on Block G10/48 is on track for deployment of the new wellhead production facility in late 2026, followed by first production in second-quarter 2027.

This will increase production from the Wassana Hub, also forming a hub for future tie-ins of satellite wellhead platforms.

Valeura hopes to close a farm-in agreement with PTTEP to blocks G1/65 and G3/65. Here, 1,200 sq km of newly acquired 3D seismic, currently undergoing processed, will support the next phases of exploration on the blocks.

Exploration wells this year have led to gas discoveries at Jarmjuree South in Block G1/65 and Bussabong in Block G3/65.
