VAALCO plans next phase of drilling offshore Gabon

VAALCO Energy is working on locations for a seven-well drilling campaign on the Etame Marin permit offshore Gabon.

The company hopes to secure a rig in time to start the program in mid-2025. The lineup will include development, exploration and workover wells.

To date, the Etame Marin partners have produced and discovered more than 150 MMbbl of oil and brought onstream multiple fields.

Offshore Cote d’Ivoire, the Canadian Natural Resources-led partnership is working with Modec, operator of the Baobab FPSO, on preparations for a dry docking project ahead of taking the vessel offline in 2025.

Following the maintenance and upgrades program, VAALCO expects development drilling to resume in 2026 from the main Baobab field in the offshore CI40 Block, with a potential future development of the Kossipo field on the same license.
