Aker BP to drill two North Sea Valhall-area wildcats

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has sanctioned Aker BP’s request to drill two exploration wells in the southern Norwegian North Sea.

OSLO, Norway – The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has sanctioned Aker BP’s request to drill two exploration wells in the southern Norwegian North Sea.

The jackupMaersk Interceptor will drill wells 2/11-12 A and 2/11-12 S in production license 33, close to the Danish median line and 12 km (7.5 mi) south of the Valhall field.

These will be the 11th and 12th wells on the license since it was awarded in 1969 in licensing round 2-A on the Norwegian shelf.
