SAN DONATO MILANESE, ItalyEni has drilled and tested the Merakes East prospect in the East Sepinggan block offshore Kalimantan, Indonesia.

The well was drilled to a depth of 3,400 m (11,155 ft) MD in 1,592 m (5,223 ft) of water depth and encountered 15 m (49 ft) of gas bearing net sands in two distinct levels of Miocene Age.

The production test, which was limited by surface facilities, recorded an excellent gas deliverability of the reservoir. The company added that it collected all the necessary data to perform all the studies required for the submission of a field development plan for the commercial exploitation of this new discovery.

The analysis of test data show that in production configuration the well can deliver 70 MMscf/d of gas and 1,000 b/d of associated condensates.

The prospect is 33 km (21 mi) southeast of the Eni-operatedJangkrik field and 3 km (2 mi) east of the Merakes field

The proximity of this new discovery to the Merakes field is in line with the company’s near field exploration, which will allow it to maximize the synergies among the subsea infrastructures as well as to reduce costs and time of the execution of the future subsea development.
