NEW DELHI, India – ONGC has awarded a new contract for commissioning of a mobile offshore production unit (MOPU) for oil production from the WO-16 cluster of fields offshore India.
The drilling rigSagar Samrat was undergoing conversion to a MOPU for this purpose with commissioning scheduled for the start of the 2019 financial year. All 15 wells have been completed at the WO-16 cluster and will be put on production once the MOPU is commissioned.
ONGC’s gas production rose by around 3% in H1 2019 compared to the previous period in 2018, and should rise further on completion of theDaman development project in India’s Western Offshore region, helped by a further increase from the VA-S1 field in the Eastern Offshore.
In addition, the company has discovered oil and gas in the KG Shallow Offshore permit off eastern India with exploratory well GS-29-15.
During testing of an interval in the Godavari clay formation of Pliocene age, the well flowed 864 b/d of oil and 15,815 cu m/d (558,501 cu ft/d) of gas.
