CNOOC Ltd. has made an oil discovery with exploration well JZ 21-1S-1 in Bohai Bay.

Located on JZ21-1 south structure in Liaozhong Sag, well JZ21-1S-1 was drilled to a TD of 2,400 m in 20 m water depth. The well flowed about 700 boe/d on 7.94 mm choke and 500 boe/d on 7.14 mm choke during two drill stem tests.

"We are encouraged by the preliminary results of the well," Mr. Zhang Guohua, senior vice president, said.

CNOOC operates the block and owns 100% interest of the discovery.
