HOUSTON – The US Gulf of Mexico rig count increased by one over the past week, going from 16 up to 17, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of Sept. 15, 2017. That number (17) is down three from the same time last year.
The overall US offshore drilling rig count mirrored the US GoM rig count, also increasing from 16 to 17. That number (17) is also down three year-over-year.
The overall US rig count, onshore and offshore, was down by eight to 936, with oil rigs down by seven to 749, gas rigs down by one to 186, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged.
Compared to this time last year, the overall US rig count is up by 430, with oil rigs up by 333, gas rigs up by 97, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at one.
