Aker BP drills new target in North Sea Alvheim area

ASKER, Norway – The jackup Maersk Interceptor has spudded the 25/4-11 exploration well in the Norwegian North Sea for operator Aker BP, targeting the Hyrokkin prospect.
The location is in license PL 677, 20 km (12.4 mi) northeast of the operator’s Alvheim field and 220 km (137 mi) northwest of Stavanger.
According to partner Fortis Petroleum, the chief goal is to test the hydrocarbon potential and reservoir properties of the Tertiary Heimdal interval.
Drilling should take around 23 days to complete: MOL Norge is the other partner.
