CALGARY, Canada --Antrim Energy has contracted the semisubmersible Transocean Prospect to drill three wells close to its East Causeway oil discovery in the UK North Sea.

AGR Peak Well Management in Aberdeen will manage the program. The first well, due to spud this weekend, will be drilled around 3.22 km (2 mi) southwest of the discovery well, and will appraise the Jurassic, Tarbert, Ness, and Etive sandstone. The program also will help Antrim evaluate options for tiebacks to nearby platforms.

In UK block 21/28a, the company is currently acquiring 70 sq km (27 sq mi) of 3D seismic over the Fyne and Dandy fields. The aim is to firm up the location for development drilling, likely to start early next year.
