Energy Partners finds gas on GoM shelf

Energy Partners Ltd. (EPL) has hit pay with well No. 1 on West Cameron block 252. The gas discovery, drilled to 8,299 ft (2,530 m) TD, encountered high quality natural gas pay in a single interval, according to EPL.

NEW ORLEANS --Energy Partners Ltd. (EPL) has hit pay with well No. 1 on West Cameron block 252. The gas discovery, drilled to 8,299 ft (2,530 m) TD, encountered high quality natural gas pay in a single interval, according to EPL.

First production is expected in 2008. EPL operates the well with a 75% working interest; Mariner Energy holds the remaining 25%.

The company plans to drill three more wells on the shelf in the second quarter.
