ABERDEEN, UK --Noble Drilling in Aberdeen has contracted Bardex for equipment upgrades to its rig skidding system on the Forties Delta platform in the UK North Sea. Bardex supplied the original system over 30 years ago, when BP was Forties operator.

The new delivery will comprise two piston-gripper assemblies, rated at 150 ton (136 metric ton) capacity, to suit the existing beam flange. These grippers will interface with the existing jacking cylinders, also supplied by Bardex. The company provided similar equipment recently for upgrades to the Forties Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie platforms.
