HOUSTON --Helix Energy Solutions subsidiary Energy Resources Technology GOM has made a second discovery in Garden Banks block 506 in 2,700 ft (823 m) 145 mi (233 km) off Galveston, Texas. The Danny well tested oil in a single sand body.

The well is being completed and development likely will be in conjunction with Noonan via a subsea tieback to a Helix platform at East Cameron block 381 in 370 ft (1113 m) of water 31 mi (50 km) to the north.

"Noonan and Danny will be developed with our marine assets within approximately 18 months of discovery with a combined finding and development (F&D) cost of less than $2/mcfe," says Martin Ferron, president and CEO of Helix. "Therefore both the pace and cost of the F&D work are at the leading edge of performance in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico."
