OSLO, Norway --The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has given DNO permission to drill a prospect in the North Sea, close to the UK median line.

The semisubmersibleBredford Dolphin will drill the well in production license 341. DNO operates with a 30% interest, in partnership with Revus, Talisman Energy, and PA Resources.

This will be the first well on the license, which was awarded in 2004, although there was a previous well on the flank of the targeted structure on subsequently relinquished acreage.

PL 341 comprises block 24/12 and parts of blocks 24/9 and 24/11. The location is around 20 km (12.43 mi) north of StatoilHydro's Gudrun discovery, and 20 km west of the Balder field.
