Dana plans North Sea trio

UK independent Dana Petroleum plans to participate in 20 exploration and appraisal wells spread between the UK, Norway, and Egypt in 2008.

ABERDEEN, UK --UK independent Dana Petroleum plans to participate in 20 exploration and appraisal wells spread between the UK, Norway, and Egypt in 2008.

In January, the company will be most active in the North Sea. In the southern UK sector, it has contracted the jackupEnsco 100 for a well on the Scolty prospect. The well should spud before the end of this month, and will take around 40 days to reach the Rotliegendes sand reservoir target.

By mid-January, the semisubmersibleByford Dolphin should be under way with an exploration program on the Rinnes structure. This comprises a well and side track targeting two Brent fault blocks close to the Dana-operated Hudson oil field.

In the Norwegian sector, Daba will participate in an exploratory well on the Bjorn prospect, east of the Troll field. The 35-day well should start before year-end.
