ABERDEEN, UK --Oilexco has completed appraisal drilling on the northwestern half of the Huntington oil discovery in UK central North Sea block 22/14b.

The program involved drillstem tests on two intervals within the oil-bearing Palaeocene Forties formation, which produced cumulative flows of over 7,300 b/d.

Oilexco shortly will appraise the Jurassic Fulmar sands on the flank of the structure with a single well bore targeting the oil/water contact. The location is well below the elevation tested this spring by the Huntington discovery well.

To the southwest of Huntington, in block 22/13b, the company is drilling an exploratory well on the Morro/Coronado prospects, using the semisubOcean Guardian. Drilling should be completed by year-end.

And to the northeast, in block 22/14a, it is participating in a second exploration well on Mallory, searching for oil in Upper Jurassic Fulmar sands. Oilexco is paying 54% of the costs of this non-operated well, investigating an analogous structure which may be an extension of the Huntington Fulmar oil section.
