LONDON, UK --Gas production has started at the GdF Britain-operated Minke field in the southern North Sea. Minke lies close to the median line with the Dutch sector in block 44/24a, in 45 m (147.64 ft) of water.

This is a single-well subsea development. Produced gas is transported at up to 60 MMcf/d through a new 15-km (9.32-mi) long pipeline to GdF Production Nederland's D15 platform. From there, the gas continues through the NGT trunkline to Uithuizen in The Netherlands.

According to GdF's partner in the project, Faroe Petroleum, the adjacent Minke Graben prospect could be drained via the same facilities. The other partners are E.ON Ruhrgas UK Median and RWE Dea UK.
