Pertra cleared for probe

OSLO, Norway --Norway's Petroleum Safety Authority has approved Pertra's request to drill an exploratory well and sidetrack in production license 337, 240-km (149 mi) west of Egersund.
The jackupMaersk Giant will drill well 15/12-18 A and the sidetrack 15/12-18 S, after completing another assignment for Talisman in the Norwegian sector. The Pertra program should last 76 days.
Hitachi built the rig in Japan in the mid-1980s. It can operate in water depths of up to 107 m (9351-ft).
