Hess' Pony well temporarily suspended

Hess temporarily has suspended drilling its Pony No. 2 well in Green Canyon block 468.

NEW YORK -- Hess temporarily has suspended drilling its Pony No. 2 well in Green Canyon block 468.

While drilling to 32,500 ft (9,906 m) targeted TD, Diamond Offshore's semisubmersibleOcean Baroness encountered mechanical problems, which delayed it from reaching its goal before scheduled drydock, according to Hess.

Pony No. 2 was cased at 23,000 ft (7,010 m). Hess says it plans to resume drilling the well in late September.Ocean Baroness currently is in drydock for statutory Coast Guard ABS inspection and routine repairs.
