Hydro, Statoil to step up development

OSLO, Norway --Two Norwegian operators have approval for production drilling schemes form Petroleum Safety Authority Norway.

Hydro will, as planned, use the semisubmersibleDeepsea Trym to drill new wells on the Troll field in the North Sea, and also intervention on existing Troll wells. The Odfjell Drilling-operated rig has been working on assignment for Hydro since Jan. 2005. The new activities should last around eight months.

Statoil has consent to employ the semisubWest Alpha to drill two producers on its Kristin field development in the Norwegian Sea. The Seadrill-operated rig will likely be on station for 90 days.
