BANGKOK -- PTTEP International Ltd. is preparing a development plan and is planning to drill two appraisal wells, Zawtika-5 and Zawtika-6, in July in the M9 block in the Gulf of Mataban.
The company's latest appraisal well, Kakonna-2, encountered eight zones of natural gas bearing formation with a total thickness of 47 m (154 ft).
The Kakonna-2 well test results affirm the commercial potential of natural gas. The well, spudded on 30 May, was drilled to a total depth of 2,607 m (8,553 ft).
PTTEP has drilled four exploration wells and two appraisal wells in addition to Kakonna-2 in the block, which lies 300 km (186 mi) south of Yangon.
