HOUSTON -- Pan Andean Resources and partner Phoenix Exploration have hit pay on High Island block 52 in the Gulf of Mexico. The discovery well, drilled to 8,700 ft (2,652 m) TD, encountered 160 ft (49 m) net gas pay in three sections, according to Pan Andean.
First gas production at an initial level of 5 MMcf/d is expected in due course. Pan Andean says it plans to drill additional wells on the block.
