Antrim lines up rig for Fyne

CALGARY, Canada --Antrim Energy has secured a rig for an appraisal drilling program on the Fyne discovery in UK central North Sea block 21/28a.

AGR Peak Management will handle the campaign, which will include one pilot hole and two sidetracks. Drilling should start early next year, initially targeting the Eocene Middle Tay sandstone that tested up to 3,600 b/d of 25º API oil during drilling in 1986.

Antrim recently completed its final appraisal well this year on the Causeway field in the UK northern North Sea, with positive results, in terms of pressure support potential for future oil producers. The company is also a partner in Kerloch in block 211/22a, where a well is due to spud in mid-November.
