Qatargas 2 offshore drilling wraps up

Qatargas Operating Co. Ltd. has completed the required offshore drilling for Qatargas 2. All 30 wells on the three wellhead platforms are complete 27 rig-months ahead of schedule, the company says. Development drilling began in Feb. 2004.

DOHA, Qatar –Qatargas Operating Co. Ltd. has completed the required offshore drilling for Qatargas 2. All 30 wells on the three wellhead platforms are complete 27 rig-months ahead of schedule, the company says. Development drilling began in Feb. 2004.

"The safe completion of the drilling program is an achievement for all involved and a testament to the hard team work by people from RasGas Co. Ltd, Qatargas 2, and the drilling rig companies Ensco and Noble and other service contractors," said Jim Adams, COO of Qatargas 2.

The three platforms will supply gas to the two 7.8 million tons per year LNG processing trains under construction at Ras Laffan Industrial City.

The shareholders in Qatargas 2 are Qatar Petroleum, ExxonMobil Qatargas (II) Ltd. and Total E&P Qatargas 2 Holdings Ltd.
