Canadian Superior to drill offshore Trinidad

Canadian Superior Energy Inc. has scheduled refurbishment work on the Kan Tan IV semisubmersible rig that has been contracted to drill three wells off the east coast of Trinidad. The company announced on March 19, 2006, that the Kan Tan IV had been contracted to drill two wells on the Canadian Superior-operated block 5(C) offshore Trinidad. The drilling of the third well was contracted and announced in Nov. 2006.

CALGARY, Alberta-- Canadian Superior Energy Inc. has scheduled refurbishment work on the Kan Tan IV semisubmersible rig that has been contracted to drill three wells off the east coast of Trinidad. The company announced on March 19, 2006, that the Kan Tan IV had been contracted to drill two wells on the Canadian Superior-operated block 5(C) offshore Trinidad. The drilling of the third well was contracted and announced in Nov. 2006.

The semi will drill the Victory 1, Bounty 1, and Endeavour 1 wells on separate worldclass natural gas prospects on the block, the company says. All of the wells on the block will be high-pressure wells. Each will be drilled to a depth of 5,000 m (16,400 ft) and is expected to take 100-120 days to drill, test, and complete. The initial three-well program will take a year to complete.

Once theKan Tan IV has completed its scheduled refurbishment program now underway in Brownsville, Texas, the rig will undergo acceptance and safety testing before being towed to Trinidad. The rig is expected to begin drilling by March 15, 2007.
