SINGAPORE -- Devon Energy Corp. plans to drill three more exploration wells this year in the BM-C-8 concession in the Campos basin offshore Brazil. The well will test the full 160-170 MMbbl of oil potential on the block.

According to Steve Hadden, senior vice president for exploration and production, who spoke at the naming ceremony for thePolvo FPSO, Devon expects to set up a small platform to support additional production if the wells prove successful.

The FPSO is to produce 50,000 b/d of oil from the shallow-water field. ThePolvo FPSO is designed to produce 90,000 b/d of oil, handle 135,000 b/d of water, and compress 7.5 MMcf/d of natural gas.

First oil from the field is scheduled for July 2007. The FPSO will leave Singapore's Keppel Shipyard by mid-February and will be on site by the end of March.

Devon and its South Korean partner SK Corp. have leased the FPSO for seven years with option for renewing the contract from Prosafe Production of Norway.
