Dragon steps up Turkmen drilling

ASHGABAD, Turkmenistan --Dragon Oil is continuing development drilling from two of its platforms in the Cheleken Contract Area in the Caspian Sea. The jack-up Iran Khazar is about to complete well 21/117, drilled to a subsurface depth of 4,245m, from the LAM 21 platform. It will then move to Dragon's new LAM A wellhead and production platform to drill a further series of development wells.

Another jack-up, theAstra, is putting in a second well (13/118) from the LAM 13 installation, before moving on to drill an exploration/appraisal well from the LAM 28 platform into the LAM West structure.

Dragon plans to step up production further by employing platform-based drilling rigs. It has contracted theCIS-1 rig for a series of development wells from LAM 22, and it also aims to use its own Rig 40
