HONG KONG -- CNOOC Ltd.'s independent oilfield LiuHua 11-1 in the eastern South China Sea is now producing 23,000 b/d of oil. Temporary production began June 27, 2007, following the repair and refloating of facilities, CNOOC says.

The field sustained damage in May 2006 when the Chan Chu typhoon moved through the area. The company had anticipated production restart in the second half of next year as a result of equipment shortage in the international market.

The LH 11-1 oilfield began initial production in April 1996.
