Total hits more ultra-deep oil offshore Angola

PARIS -- Sonangol and Total subsidiary Total E&P Angola hit oil with the 11th exploration well on block 32 in ultra deepwater offshore Angola.
Drilled 175 km (109 mi) off the Angolan coast in a water depth of 1,700 m (5,577 ft), the Colorau-1 well encountered Upper Oligocene oil bearing reservoirs. The well tested at a rate of 2,130 b/d of oil. The discovery lies in the northeastern part of block 32, 16 km (10 mi) north east of Manjericão.
Complementary technical studies are being carried out to evaluate the drilling results, and further exploration drilling is under way and planned across the block.
Sonangol is the concessionaire of block 32. Total operates the block with 30% interest. Other partners include Marathon Oil Co with 30% interest, Sonangol E.P. with 20% interest, Esso Exploration and Production Angola (Overseas) Ltd. with 15% interest, and Petrogal with 5% interest.
