Statoil cleared for Norwegian Sea wildcat

Statoil is to drill an exploration well 21.5 km (13 mi) north of Draugen in the Norwegian Sea, following clearance from Norway's Petroleum Safety Authority.

STAVANGER, Norway -Statoil is to drill an exploration well 21.5 km (13 mi) north of Draugen in the Norwegian Sea, following clearance from Norway's Petroleum Safety Authority.

Diamond Offshore's semisubmersibleOcena Vanguard should spud well 6407/6-6 early in September. The operation should last 48 days.

Statoil also has been cleared to conduct manned underwater operations for repair work on the Veslefrikk B platform in the North Sea, using Acergy as its diving services contractor. Operations will be conducted from the light diving boatRisoy Jr, with Far Saga as the mother ship.
