DUBLIN, Ireland --Island Oil and Gas plans to drill a pre-development well at the Old Head of Kinsale gas field in Ireland's Celtic Sea. The company plans a fast-track development with two producers tied back to Marathon's Kinsale platform facilities, depending on the outcome of gas test results.
The jack-upPetrolia will then move to the nearby Schull license to drill an appraisal well to evaluate Total's 57/2-2 discovery from 1987.
In deeper water Rockall basin off western Ireland, the company is evaluating a potential multi-tcf gas prospect, Killala, and is working on farm-out options. It also is reviewing prospects for a development of the Connemara oil field, which could involve giving equity in the field to a floating production facility provider. Two newly identified exploration leads nearby could make this option more attractive.
