DUBLIN, Ireland --Island Oil & Gas plans to drill two appraisal wells shortly in Ireland's Celtic Sea.

ThePetrolia first will appraise Island's 2006 discovery, Old Head of Kinsale. Depending on the result, the company aims to submit a development plan to involve completing and tying back the two wells to Marathon's Kinsale offshore complex.

The rig then will move to the nearby Schull license to evaluate Total's 1987 discovery, 57/2-2, which was not tested at the time. Island also has identified two other structures in the area, and has plans to for a potential satellite tieback development at Old Head.
