RIO DE JANEIRO -- Petrobras has hit pay with exploratory well 6-BR-63A-RJS in the prolific Campos basin.
The well discovered an oil accumulation in pre-salt carbonate reservoirs at a depth of 4,340 m (14,239 ft). Preliminary estimates indicate the presence of light oil (28° API) with recoverable volumes of approximately 40 MMbbl. Tests indicate good productivity in the reservoirs, the company says.
The company reports another oil accumulation in sandstone post-salt reservoirs with 25 MMbbl of estimated recoverable oil.
Petrobras is evaluating development of well 6-BR-63A-RJS via the P-43 platform, which is currently in operation at the Barracuda field.
