TRONDHEIM, Norway -- Det norske has farmed into 10% of Mid-Norwegian license PL 392, operated by AS Norske Shell. The license contains several defined prospects, one of which – Dalsnuten – will be drilled this fall, using the harsh environment semisubmersible Aker Barents.
The license is in the Voring basin, west of the Norske Shell’s Gro gas discovery, in water depths of 1,350-1,500 m (4,429-4,921 ft). According to Det norske, the well will test new exploration models for this part of the Norwegian Sea, which have proven to be successful further south in the Haltenbanken area.
