ABERDEEN -- Nexen is to plug and abandon its Bugle North appraisal well in the UK central North Sea.

Well 15/23-d was targeting the northern extension of the Bugle oil discovery and reached a total depth of 15,145ft (4,616 m) MD, but encountered only minor quantities of hydrocarbon in the target horizon.

The well was drilled close to the boundary between blocks 15/23c and 15/23d. Costs are equally split between the block partnerships.

Premier Oil has a 50% interest in Block 15/23d which contains the Bugle discovery.
