TORSHAVN, Faroe Islands -- The Faroese Earth and Energy Directorate (Jardfeingi) has approved ENI’s plan to drill an exploration well in offshore license 005.

The permit covers an area southeast of the Faroe Islands. The semisubmersible West Phoenix will drill the well in late May on the Anne-Marie prospect, in a water depth of 1,106 m (3,628 ft).

Currently, the rig is working for Total on the Hild field in the Norwegian North Sea.

ENI Denmar operates License 005 with a 55% interest, in partnership with OMV (20%), Faroe Petroleum (12.5%), and Cieco (12.5%).
