LONDON -- Premier Oil has contracted the jackup Ensco 100 for an exploration well on the Oates prospect in the UK central North Sea.

The rig will likely mobilize to the location in block 22/19c in June, and the well should take around 30 days to drill.

Serica Energy holds a 50% interest in the license, and Premier is carrying its share of the well costs in line with a farm-in agreement.

Next month, Serica expects to spud a well on the Conan structure in the East Irish Sea using the jackup Ensco 80, following the latter’s mobilization from Humberside, eastern England.

Serica has a 65% interest in Conan in blocks 113/26b and 113/27c. In this case, its share of the costs is being borne by Agora Oil & Gas, again under the terms of a farm-in accord.
