READING, UK -- A successful Tupi field appraisal well (3-RJS-666) offshore Brazil in pre-salt strata of Santos basin confirms hydrocarbons, says BG Group.

Further evaluation is under way to select a field development plan, but BG says this latest well confirms Tupi recoverabe reserves at 5-8 Bbbl of oil and natural gas. Plans call for the first Tupi production module to be onstream by year-end.

Petrobras is operator of the block with 65%. BG has 25% and GALP has 10%.
