MELBOURNE, Australia -- MEO Australia has secured the semisub Songa Venus to drill its giant Artemis prospect in permit WA-360-P off northwest Australia.
The rig is currently contracted to Shell for a firm three-well program with options for up to three more wells.
The new assignment agreement formalizes MEO’s earlier commitment to Shell to exercise the first of three option slots for drilling Artemis-1.
Shell currently expects the rig to be released to MEO between early and late November, subject to progress on Shell’s current and subsequent wells.
