Statoil gets nod to test Soleie

Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has approved Statoil Petroleum’s request to drill the Soleie prospect in license 269 in the Norwegian North Sea.

OSLO Norway -- Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has approved Statoil Petroleum’s request to drill the Soleie prospect in license 269 in the Norwegian North Sea.

The semisub Transocean Leader will drill well 35/1-2 S in 409 m (1,342 ft) of water, at a location around 67 km northeast of the Snorre field and 72 km (45 mi) northwest of Gjøa. Operations will start after the rig has completed Statoil’s 15/3-9 well.

PSA expects the activity to last for 105 days.
