PORT STANLEY, South Africa -- Diamond Offshore’s Ocean Guardian has transferred to the North Falklands basin to drill a second well for Rockhopper Exploration.

The semisub should start work in the next 30 days on the Ernest 26/6-1 well in license PL024. On completion, the rig will likely return to Rockhopper’s Sea Lion 14/10-2 oil discovery well for testing operations.

Ocean Guardian previously drilled a dry hole for BHP/Falkland Oil & Gas on the Toroa structure in the East Falklands basin.
